As an add-on to my last post, fancy food is is good here too! In contrast to hawker food, restaurant food is $$$$. But as with living in any large city, chefs take pride in their work and some of their creations are deliciously beautiful. Enjoy a few of my recent foodie adventures:
We sat in a lovely cubby for 8
Savories on the bottom, sweets on the top.
Stunning chandelier
Vintage peranakan tiles. Love.
High Tea at Violet Oon in the national gallery. Violet Oon is the namesake restaurant (and chain) for a longtime Singaporean chef. The restaurant specializes in Peranakan cuisine. The setting was gorgeous and the peranakan nibbles just as good. I hope to come back here for a full meal!
“Find the chicken in the chili’s”. Popcorn chicken hidden in Sichuan peppers. Ryan’s new favorite dish.
Forbidden Risotto
Saturday night we enjoyed beers at little creatures brewery (Australian and Singaporean. We’ve been before, but enjoyed our beers much more this time). Then we moved over to a new restaurant (to us), Birds of a Feather. This was a Sichuan-Western fusion. So yummy. A new favorite and we hope to return to try the chefs tasting menu next time. O
Goan Fish curry & Hyderabadi baingan
Lunch bunch!
Lovely lunch
Lunch on Monday was at Curry Culture. So much food for S$17. So yummy and I was full for the rest of the day!
Palate cleanser
Appetizers. The middle was carrot that tasted like salmon sushi!
Charcoal tempura
Seaweed soup!
Monkey mushroom. Tasted like chicken!
Rose iced tea
Poached pear dessert
Today was a 6 course lunch at Joie, a vegetarian molecular gastronomy restaurant. So fun and delicious!
Farewell, Sofia
Ready to play!
Line 1, 2& 3 jumping for joy!
Much more serious
Line 1 winners! 6-0, 6-0!
Had to play a little tennis to work off all this food! Won my first match last week. Off this week and my first singles match was postponed. We also said goodbye to our lovely captain, Sofia. I’m so happy she green lighted me to be on this team. It’s been such a joy. I will miss her very much!
Such scrumptious choices! Both “high brow” and hawker alike😊
